Blumat Digital Moisture Meter
Blumat Digital Moisture Meter
Determine the moisture content of your soil and how thirsty your plants really are with this Blumat Digital Soil Moisture Meter.
Providing you with perfect control over watering, this professional digital soil sensor shows you exactly how thirsty your plants are and gives you a 100% guarantee you are watering correctly with the simple press of a button. It will display higher values in millibars for dry soil and lower values for moist soil.
How it works: The porous ceramic tip measures moisture as water is emitted out of the tip when the soil is dry, resulting in negative pressure in the plastic tube. This negative pressure reading will be higher if the soil is drier. Once watering is complete, the water is sucked back, the plastic tube fills with water again, and the negative pressure reduces. The tension in the soil moisture increases as roots absorb the water from the soil. Water moves out through the ceramic tip, creating a sub-pressure that is shown on the LCD display. The soil's ability to withdraw water from the tensiometer increases continuously as soil dries (high value). Watering will reverse this action. Sub-pressure in the tensiometer draws water back from the soil into the sensor (low value).
Very easy to use, the Blumat Digital Soil Moisture Sensor is the simplest way to measure moisture. The best way to determine how much water your plants require is to leave the meter in one place. If you move it, give it 2-3 hours to show an accurate reading. Briefly tap the button and the measurement will be displayed for 10 seconds in millibars. A reading ranging from 10-750 is a normal measuring result in millibar. A reading of 0 could indicate an air leak, so you should check water inside the tube and refill if required. A reading of more than 750 means the soil has completely dried out and immediate watering is necessary.
Instructions
- Unscrew the measuring head. Do not place the unscrewed measuring head in water.
- Soak the plastic tube with the ceramic tip in water for at least 1 hour.
- Fill the plastic tube to the top with tap water.
- Screw the measuring head back on.
- Insert the meter into the soil 6-7" (15-18 cm) deep. Insert 2-3" (5-8 cm) from the edge of the pot for potted plants.
This Digital Soil Moisture Meter works in all types of soils and clay granulates. Whether used indoors or outdoors, this meter is ideal for plant troughs, perennials and shrubs, bushes, hedges, horticultural farms, vegetable and fruit growing, commercial nurseries, controlled watering of valuable plants during winter, and much more. Great for watering sensitive plants as well because the meter will determine exactly how dry the soil is and how urgent watering is needed.
